I usually don’t make new year’s resolutions for myself anymore because I never follow through with them. I might want to give it a try this year only if I can think of some resolutions that are more realistic and easily attainable. Big, general goals without little markers for improvement are just too overwhelming.
Live a less stressful life. Not only is my life already stressful, I am also so easily stressed out…a recipe for mental and even bodily pain. My body hurts and I can just feel my well-being deteriorating. I need to do what I can to lessen the stress, and there are a few things that are not exactly easy but really doable.
- Allot an extra 15-30 minutes so that I don’t have to stress out about being late. This may need to be in conjunction with sleeping earlier or sacrificing for some sleep deprivation a few times.
- Start things early. I need to start making smaller timelines, and more frequent or earlier deadlines.
- Take deeper breaths. When anxiety hits, just take deeper breaths.
- Get a massage quarterly.
Lead a cleaner life. The physical clutter does disrupt my state of mind. It also adds to my stress when I can’t find something or I’m relocating a pile on the bed to the floor just so I can go to sleep.
- Spend just 30 minutes a day picking a few things up as a mental break from work.
- Spend just 1 hr a week doing laundry instead of having to do multiple loads after being backed up.
- Get ready for bed by 10pm. Most of the time there’s no need to eat after 10pm anymore.
Do you have any goals or resolutions for the year?
Good luck with your New Year's resolutions! Living a less stressful and more cleaner life is good! It's easier said than done but when you put your mind to it, you'll be successful :). Massages are awesome! Especially with a massage oil is involved ;). Eating after 10pm is messy sometimes and bad for your metabolism.
I think my biggest resolution this year is to be more organized XD.
Thanks Nancy! I agree, it's definitely easier said than done! That's why I made sure my goals are a bit easier to attain, so that in the grand scheme of things I can maybe put a dent into my mess/stressful life
Oh man, I actually had my first professional massage last month, and it was with lavender oil….super amazing! Good luck with your goal of getting organized!
I think those are great things to work on! I find that smaller and more frequent timelines help a lot. I even implemented this practice at work such that my teams work in 1 week sprints. Large projects have felt less overwhelming as a result! Getting a massage once in a while sounds nice too :)
Getting ready for bed earlier sounds like a good idea. I’ve been trying to do that, even if I don’t plan on sleeping yet. It just feels good to do it earlier.
Good luck with your resolutions!
My recent post Recap: Professional-related goals
That does sound like a great way to tackle large projects! Smaller and frequent deadlines are great concepts. I think successful people have caught on to that and stuck with it way sooner! For me it's kind of a mental thing. When I used to try it, the small deadlines I set weren't accomplished just because the back of my head was saying "Well…it's not REALLY due yet" haha
I still have to work that part out!
Agreed on getting ready for bed earlier! Even if you don't sleep for a few hours, it does feel really nice. Especially when you're super tired and just ready to knock out :)
Good luck with those resolutions. I feel you on not making them though. I never really follow through. Lately I just make life changing decisions when I'm good and ready :)

Haha I admire that, making life changing decisions when you're ready
My danger is never actually being ready lol
I think those are absolutely wonderful goals to set! Too often we set goals that are related to jobs, career, school, or financials, but I like your goals for your lifestyle of living a less stress life. That's one of the goals I've set for myself this year as well, I'm confident you will achieve it!

Awesome, I really hope your life is a bit less stressful this year! Keep me updated if you do find yourself being less stressed or find methods of reducing the stress :)
I wish you the best of luck in completing these in the coming year and I am sure that you can.
Mine are to study, keep creative, be healthy and try to travel. It's basically a year of good changes.

Thanks Kya! Very ambitious goals! Good luck on all of them! I've seen the things you've done though, and totally know you're going to complete those goals. :)
I love how simple and focused your goals are. I can totally relate on the laundry. I just let it pile up and up and up and then I have to spend all day doing it. I just hate doing laundry. :(
I just made a couple of goals this year: to read 52 books and to blog more consistency. I tend to go AWOL so just minimizing that will be a minor success, haha. Best of luck with your goals Kim!
